Astericus

This cover project started with two main
themes: Van Gogh and Africa. Both are
the main theme of the story (written by a
friend) and therefore I wanted to combine
them. An extensive research of African
patterns, fabrics, architecture, forms and
structures followed and eventually lead
to a Van Gogh inspired sky made up of
different african-inspired patterns (aka.
lots of dots, coloring and shading, as well
as almost breaking Affinity Designer).
I changed the moon to semi-realistic because
the initial pattern-style moon did
not work out the way I wanted. The font
was also adjusted to match the sky’s swirls.
